The Building: Construction of the building at the bottom of San Bernardo Hill and behind General Güemes's Monument meant a challenge for both its designers and those who made the decision to carry out the works back in the 70's, displays a conceptual style which was not precisely modern. Both its project and execution were a true challenge, so much so that there are no examples of this style found in Salta 's architecture, or perhaps any where else in the Argentine Northwest.

Salta 's Museum of Anthropology is a provincial institution with an educational and a scientific mission. It is the institution in charge of enforcing the current legislation concerning the Archaeological and Paleontological Heritage, as well as of granting research permissions to national and foreign researchers. It provides not only counselling but also scientific and technical assistance to provincial institutions, as well as outspreading of tangible and intangible heritage. The Museum was born out of the initiative of Professor Amadeo Rodolfo Sirolli and Dr. Eduardo Mario Cigliano, the latter being a well-known archaeologist who worked with his team at Santa Rosa de Tastil Ruins. The collection unearthed at this site initiated the creation process of the museum. |
